Domakonda Fort spruced up for Ramcharan’s engagement

Nizamabad: The historic Domakonda Fort is gearing up to host the engagement ceremony of megastar Chiranjeevi’s son Ram Charan Teja and Upasana Kamineni in Nizamabad district.
Even though Upasana’s family members are yet to confirm the news, the brisk pace of renovation works at the Domakonda Fort is giving an indication that the engagement ceremony would definitely be held here.

Moreover, the recent visit of Upasana’s parents to the fort also confirms that the fort is the venue for the engagement.
The fort was built during the Kakatiya period. The heritage centre, which is believed to be constructed in 18th century, is a blend of Muslim and Hindu architecture and it is 100 Kms away from Hyderabad.
Domakonda Gadi Samsthan rulers are Kamineni family and Upasana is the daughter of Domakonda Samsthan current heir Anil Kamineni and Sobha Reddy. Kamineni Umapathi Rao is Upasana’s maternal grandfather, who owns that place.

Since his granddaughter is getting engaged, he has reportedly instructed to do some repair works. In fact, many people living in the vicinity of Domakonda do not know much about the fort and are not aware of Upasana Kamineni’s family till recently. When Film actor Chiranjeevi announced his son’s wedding with Upasana, the historic fort hit the headlines and it is rumored that the Upasana family members have chosen the historic place for the engagement. The fort is situated in about 40 acres.

The renovation works are now going on at brisk pace. The workers are clearing bushes and leveling the land in and around the fort. The engagement is expected to be held in November.

Domakonda people are pleased over the news as their village caught the media attention and they are expecting that the State Government would recognise the historical importance of Domakonda village and announce a special package to make their village a tourist destination in the days to come.
