Mamta Mohandas to marry her childhood friend

Reigning Malayalam actress Mamta Mohandas is happily looking forward to getting married and settling down with a childhood friend.

The last few years have been tough for Mamta as she fought cancer. She is enjoying her new lease of life with great positivity.

She is also excited about returning to Tamil films with an exciting role in Thaidaiyarai Thaaka. She reveals, “I am dating an entrepreneur and it’s not a filmy kind romance where he proposed with roses. It was actually a bond that developed over the years. In fact, he is also very close to my father. I used to visit my family in Bahrain for holidays and he used to join me there.”

She adds, “Eventually, we realised that we are made for each other as we share a lot of common interests and resolved to take our relationship to the next level. With family approving the relationship, we are thinking of settling down next year.” she adds.

If she is busy shooting in Kerala, while he is working in Bahrain, one wonders how their courtship works. “We met a couple of times, but we are mostly in touch on the phone. He’s not a movie buff as such but he’s watched a couple of my movies,” she says.

Just two years ago, her life was totally different as a 22-year-old girl diagnosed with cancer. She went through turbulent times in getting her cancer treated, but emerged a winner.

“I had to cut off my hair. Some thought it was a style statement. It is tough to undergo such painful treatments like chemotherapy and radiation. But one must realise that without a struggle there is no victory. This is my life’s philosophy,” she says sounding much older than her years.

The disease has made her stronger and more positive. “I have lots of things to do and I don’t like wasting time on negative thoughts. I have conquered my ego and like to lead a simple life. A positive attitude makes both your mind and body healthy and, as a bonus, attracts good things around you,” she says.

Her Mollywood career is rocking with 16-odd films including hits like Anwar, Passenger and she has bagged awards for a riveting performance in Katha Thudarunnu.

“It’s a valiant story about a girl who moves ahead in life with just hope and nothing else. My upcoming films are Gnanam and Entha Family with Jayaram and a path-breaking film with Shyam Prasad,” she says.

It seems like the actress’ second innings will be much more happening than her first.
